19th C Samson Hand Enameled French Chinoiserie Lamp
We have not removed the base from this lamp to search for a mark, but feel completely confident that this is by the French company, Samson & Cie, although we do not guarantee it. Note that the base plate is soldered (gold in color) to the filigree.

The ribbed, urn-shaped lamp has a familiar center crest in blue and orange enamel with extensive gilt, including a crown, three gilt fleur de lis, and a white dove; as well as three additional floral design panels around the lamp torso; other gilt and enamel designs encircle the shoulders, as well as the permanently attached lid; a blue enamel and gilt border encircles the base of the lamp. Much of the enameling is raised, another typical feature of Samson designs. The filigree base has four feet, and shows age-darkening.

13.5" to top of urn, 24" to top of brass finial, 4.5" brass base.

Condition of urn is excellent with only slight gilt loss to the lid rim; and the base is good, with two unnoticeable dents to the underside baseplate, at two of the feet (the largest one pictured). $45 US Shipping. [bargain priced until we can have a professional lamp restorer advise and assist us on removal of the base plate; purchase instantly at the order/inquire button]

Samson & Cie of Paris is famous for faithfully reproducing Chinese Export porcelain, and actually providing improvements to the pieces. As many of the Samson porcelain pieces are now antiques, themselves, they run a close second to the original Chinese Exports.
