Expertly handpainted and hand-signed by the artist, "Nayat," Limoges porcelain, 9.50" Plate. Ground begins in dark green behind upper center roses, gradually shading out to paler and paler aquamarine at the center base. The center of the plate is colored in pale yellow with a touch of apricot. Stylized roses in shades of pink and white make up the "bouquet," with scattered raised enameling. Leaf and foliate rim displays wide, heavy gilt. Green overglaze mark of George Borgfeldt ("Coronet" with crown) for the years 1906 - 1920. Green underglaze mark of Coiffe for the years 1891-1920. Borgfeldt ran a New York based import company with art studios in France, using the blanks of various Limoges porcelain manufacturers. The blank in this instance was from the Coiffe company in Limoges. Closeup photographs point out two small, minor scratches and one scuffed area, plus there is slight wear to the gilt. With those minor exceptions, this exquisite plate is in excellent condition. c. 1906-1920. $18 US Shipping. |
