Early 20th Century Italian Gold Leaf Shrine Shelf with red velveteen backing. It appears a new back was added to the piece at some point as it is not original to the shelf. Shelf measures 13" (33.02 cm) long, 3.75" (9.53 cm) wide, and the platform, itself, is 4.25" x 2.50" (10.80 x 6.35 cm). Condition is very good with scattered bits of gold leaf worn away. c. 1920-1940. $12 US Shipping.
"Made in Italy" is stamped on the reverse of this beautiful little shelf. It is intentional that the red undercoating show through in spots, while both gold and silver are attractively scattered over the entire surface. The shelf measures only 4" x 3", and it is 7" from the top to the tip of the carved base; the handcarving is 2-1/2" thick (front-to-back). Excellent condition. $9 US Shipping.
