Early 20th Century Italian Gold Leaf Shrine Shelf with red velveteen backing. It appears a new back was added to the piece at some point as it is not original to the shelf. We are not certain this is a Bohemian Shade; it could also be American as it looks very much like some of the tall Lundberg Studios shades. However, this shade has no fitter rim, so it was undoubtedly made for a specific purpose, possibly intended to hang. There is all-over iridescence, "oil spots," mottling, and even some feathering here and there. The fluted rim is folded for extra stability. "Made in Italy" is stamped on the reverse of this beautiful little shelf. It is intentional that the red undercoating show through in spots, while both gold and silver are attractively scattered over the entire surface. Mid-20th Century Murano Art Glass Lamp in a luscious, rich, deep pink elliptical, or egg-shape solid glass (Venini?), densely included with gold flecks.
