Soyer," sight measuring approximately 19.50" x 9.50", and frame measuring 26.25" x 16.25". Owner has had the painting professionally cleaned recently, and a small repair made near the toe of the upper foot (visible only on the reverse of canvas). 8 Cups & 8 Saucers, thickly lined in brilliant Sterling Silver, by Dorothy C. Thorpe, 1930s and into the 1950s artist studio, one of the California Modernists. Between this set and another set of plates, only one piece retains a signature (pictured), although all are unmistakably Dorothy Thorpe. The Thorpe staff used blanks from several well-known manufacturers of porcelain and glass of the era; this set is white-white, in a textured, woven pattern.
