Rare Solid Sterling Silver Dessert / Soup Spoon, monogrammed "S", by "Cady & Olmstead," New Haven, Connecticut, also marked "Sterling," and "Pat. 1891," with the company's hallmark. The unknown pattern name has scrolling completely around the perimeter of the handle, with a crown (or partial shell) design center top, pattern repeated on the reverse. 6.75" long. Pair of 19th Century Patch Boxes, or Jars; Sterling Silver, chased lids, both lids without damage. Each marked twice, "Sterling," and "Sterling BENS." Faceted Crystal bases are unmarked; with the exception of one tiny chip to one jar, pictured, they are in superb condition. Both were found packed in a 19th Century trunk among several fine articles from the 1800s. 19th Century Quadruple Plate Figural Toothpick Holder by "Derby Silver Company," so marked, and also marked with "M&B Sterling." The plating on the toothpick urn is well worn in areas, especially the back, but the attached child pulling off his shoes and socks, seems to be completely intact. We have done no testing, but suggest that the boy may be the "sterling" part stated in the mark. We cannot guarantee it is sterling, but can find no other explanation for ...click for details
