Ground begins in dark green behind upper center roses, gradually shading out to paler and paler aquamarine at the center base. The center of the plate is colored in pale yellow with a touch of apricot. Stylized roses in shades of pink and white make up the "bouquet," with scattered raised enameling. Antique Limoges, France mark "CMC" both underglaze and overglaze, in green, dating to 1890-1914. Portraits of the favored couple, Napoleon and Josephine, by E. Furlaud. We do not believe these are original paintings, but a type of transfer print. Gilded rims, each 10" (25.40 cm) diameter, both with wire hangers on verso. Five porcelain Plates by Jean Pouyat, underglaze green "JPL France," mark of 1890-1932, and overglaze green and gold wreath mark of 1906-1932. Rimmed in gilt, with raised gilt stars all 'round the scalloped edge, gilt wreaths among partial transfer print, and touches of raised, hand-enameling to the tiny pink roses. We have not removed the base from this lamp to search for a mark, but feel completely confident that this is by the French company, Samson & Cie, although we do not guarantee it. Note that the base plate is soldered (gold in color) to the filigree.
