Handpainted porcelain Medieval Italian Queen Hermengarde (804-851), the Empress of Rome, and wife of Roman Emperor Lothaire 1. She is elegantly attired in a long, brilliant sapphire-blue gown, with mink trim. The under portion of the Empress' head dress is also made of mink; occasional gilt trim at neck and on head dress. Elaborately decorated antique Nippon Bowl with openwork handles, allover beading, eight flower blossom cartouches, center star cartouche, handpainted flowers outside, on each of the four sides, and gilt decoration throughout; design of the bowl is Rococo, fitting right into the Art Nouveau era.
